was a great first day at davidstow. Nice to play on a flat site again, even with all the trenches and ducking under trees. The weather was awful but with all the tree cover it was dry in the copses and also added for some tactical manouvers in the mist. Yup, ill be back next time Very Happy

Like I said, one of the best skirmishes I have had. Everyone had a great attitude and kept going despite the crazy misty rain.

That trench "tug o' war" game is just nuts. It really makes you use every ounce of your fitness and experience. Just wish we had more grenades, or even one!

Cheers and laters Twisted Evil

It was my first time ever airsofting and I am well and truly hooked.
I had a blast.Great bunch of guy's and gal's,great fun even though I was frozen to the core and soaked to the skin most of the day.
Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome, they didnt even moan about me being a realy realy bad airsofter lol.
I got killed loads but still managed to get a few hits.I only had one problem and that was fogging of my eye gear and one of the marshals kindly lent me his.
Iv ordered some mesh goggles to sort that.
I found it very tireing and had to spend all day yesterday and most of today in bed recovering but it was worth it.
Thanks for a great day and I will be seeing you all again very soon.

Glad you had a good one Very Happy I was wondering how battered you were feeling yesterday!

After you asked about mesh face guards I meant to let you try mine on but I forgot. I use THIS which is fairly comfortable but fouls on my goggles a little. Good luck finding something that is safe, cool and comfy.

See you next time bounce

Hi sallymander I was in a Hell of a state. I couldn't even get up the stairs or out of bed without help.
I had a temperature of 103,headache,stomach cramps and I felt like I had been beaten with a baseball bat from head to toe.
It was worth it and I will be doing it all again asap.
Thanks for the link Im ordering one to go with my new mesh goggles.

Site review

well what can I say. This has to be one of the best sites I have played at. The people were friendly, the marshals were nice and helpful and the games were simple but incredibly fun. I must say the first game of plant the bomb was awesome and the best game of the day as you had room for all styles of play. the VIP game on the other hand would have been better if only a hand full of players were ambushing as half the people playing was complete overkill. I think truthfully one sniper could do it on their own as the cover is so good. Still fun but would be more of a challenge for the other team because I think some players didn't even get to shoot at us.

The tug of war game was good but lacked the ability to flank and therefore in my opinion removed the element of strategy but if you could play that on a wider site it would be even more awesome.

The only thing that worried me was people talking about how they use heavy amo to bring the fps of their gun down for cronoing. They weren't cheating intentionally, they just don't understand how chronoing works and why you either have to tell the person doing the chronoing your amo weight or use 0.2g bb's. I only bring this up because I like my teeth and I don't like the idea of having dental work done as its not cheap and if you play at other sites and they catch you doing that there is a very high chance of you being banned for doing so.

I will be back for more though and I think I shall be making this my regular site from now on Very Happy

Also sorry about the length of this post the site is awesome and as are the people, I'm just trying to help everyone who doesn't understand why using heavy amo to chrono their guns with a chrono set to 0.2g is a bad idea.

If you would like me to move some of this thread please just say and I will try and do so.

Thanks again for a great day everyone!
Rune

So why chronoing your gun with the right amo is important.

I'll try and keep this simple for you. The chrono in most cases is set to chronograph your gun with 0.2g bb's, so when you use 0.3 to chrono your gun it reads a false reading as it thinks its chronoing a set weight. so your real FPS is more like 400-420 not 350. The reason this matters is because when a 0.2g bb hits you at 350 fps close up feels its like being pinched or having an injection at most. Where as a 0.3g bb doing what is more like 400 FPS not 350 like you think up close knocks teeth out. Hence why snipers have a minimum engagement ranges, so that shouldn't happen in theory. Don't get me wrong teeth can be damaged at 320FPS but 400 will be a hell of a lot more likely. An example to use is a brick and a small pebble are thrown at you at similar speeds (the brick slightly slower). Which is going to do more damage? The brick of course as its weight is much higher and therefore caries more overall momentum to do more damage.

I'm not 100% sure that's the best example but your gun is putting out a set amount of energy to be spent on moving a 0.2g bb at 400fps and the same energy is used to move a 0.3g bb and therefore the speed will read as lower but but the over all impact force will be greater than with a lighter bb. What your guns should be reading with 0.3g bb with a m100-M110 spring is more like 280-290 fps with the correct weight set on the chronograph.

Rich is another good example of what happens when you are using heavy amo to bring FPS down. Me and Rich have been airsofting for a fair old while now and we know what its like getting shot and what sort of marks are left from different FPS's at different ranges. Rich was shot from a reasonable distance in the lip and normally might leave a small mark for a few days. Instead what he had at the end of the day was somewhat of a welt. I know no one is cheating on purpose and I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just informing people of how it really works and why its important to chrono with the right amo so that no one gets hurt or banned from any other sites around the country.

If your worried about your range dropping when you change or cut your spring to bring it to the correct FPS (I would advise you to change it not cut it) don't be as I was hitting you with a gun that fires at about 330FPS (M95 spring) with 0.2g bb's and all I did was upgrade my hop rubber, bucking and put a tightbore barrel in my gun to do so. All FPS really does is make it hurt more at longer ranges for the most part. Don't get me wrong it can extend your range a bit but not as much as you might think unless you upgrade it. So a stock gun at 400fps will have similar range to a upgraded 330fps which is site legal gun. can you see the benefits?

I think I got all that right lol. I am also more than happy to put up a basic spring change thread if anyone needs it and a good cheap site to buy new parts from if you like. If you prefer you could just search youtube for endless videos that have already been made.
